Blitz bike: Watts/speed/RPM not workingUpdated 10 months ago
The speed sensor that sticks into the cage near the center of the fan can sometimes get jostled during shipping, throwing off its alignment with the fan's magnet. Sensors are rarely ever defective right out of the box, so a simple realigning of the two should restore the tracking of wattage, speed and RPM.Â
Before starting, ensure that you have the following parts intact on your bike:
fan magnet
speed sensor
The following connected with each other: a wire in the bike frame, a wire in the monitor's post, and a wire from the monitor itself.
Here's how to fix it:
Check to make sure your monitor has functioning batteriesÂ
Confirm that your monitor can turn on without pedaling, by hitting "Start"
Grab a Phillips screwdriver and slightly loosen the screw holding the speed sensor in place
Remove the outer plastic dust guard near the center of the fan, relevel the sensor
Lightly turn the pedal, so that the sensor and fan magnet are in line with each other
Gently adjust the speed sensor's angle to make it point directly to the center of the magnet
Connect all wires
Turn the pedals while watching the monitor for the recording of key metrics
If successful, carefully tighten down the screw holding the sensor in place
If unsuccessful, continue adjusting sensor slightly up (or down) and turning the pedals — watching for when the monitor tracks key metrics again
Optional: re-attach the plastic dust guard
In extremely rare cases, the sensor's glue might need to be gently rewarmed using a hairdryer and the sensor pushed in further into the cage to be within 1/2" of the fan magnet
