How can I mount the Cable Tower to the wall?Updated 2 months ago
Here are the instructions to mount the Cable Tower to the wall:
Step 1: Install the Stringer Board (the board the brackets will mount to)
- Decide where the cable tower will go and mark the height for the stringer board.
- Choose the correct fasteners based on your wall type:
- Concrete wall: Use Tapcon screws.
- Concrete block wall: Use Tapcon screws.
- Drywall with studs: Use wood screws long enough to go through the drywall and deep into the studs.
Step 2: Mount the Stringer Board
If you have a concrete or concrete block wall:
- Use a masonry bit and hammer drill to drill holes into the wall that match your Tapcon screw size.
- Drill into the center of the blocks (strongest area, avoids hollow spots).
- Clean out the holes.
- Drive the Tapcon screws through the stringer board and into the wall using an impact driver.
- Be careful not to over-tighten.
If you have studs behind drywall:
- Line up the stringer board with the wall studs.
- Drive wood screws through the stringer board, drywall, and deep into the studs.
Step 3: Mount the Cable Tower Brackets
Once the stringer board is solidly mounted, position the cable tower brackets.
- Use ½-inch lag bolts to secure the brackets directly to the stringer board.
- Tips:
- The stringer board spreads out the load and makes the installation stronger.
- Double-check that everything is level before fully tightening.
- If you're unsure about wall type or screw size, ask at a hardware store.
